After the 1858 earthquake, Corinth had to be rebuilt, it was rebuilt around the ancient site of Corinth. Located just 78km west of Athens, it is easily accessible from Athens by car, train or bus. Make sure you visit the archaeological site of Ancient Korinthos, the Ecclesiastical Museum where you can find some interesting manuscripts and high priest vestments. Not only can you visit the ruins, but you can also take time to swim at the local beach. Those with a sweet tooth, why not try some local deserts.
