What do you most enjoy about the travel industry?
There’s never a dull moment. The industry is fluid and ever changing, but ultimately after many years of carrying different roles in tourism and hospitality, what gives me most pleasure is being an integral part of a diverse global community with a zest for life quenched by their love of travel.
What do you enjoy the most about tailor making itineraries for our customers?
I still get excited when pulling up a map to connect the dots and build an itinerary from scratch. Creating personalised travel experiences for Kiwis is not always an easy task, but later reading their blogs and posts full of joy and wonder about the memorable places I’ve handpicked for them makes every effort worthwhile. Sharing photos and impressions of their adventures with their friends and family is the best thanks you can get.
What countries have you visited?
Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Italy, Austria, Hungary, Russia, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland, France, UK, USA, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, Fiji, New Caledonia and plenty of road trips around North and deep South of New Zealand - have probably forgotten a few, but ready to revisit some of these lovely places as well as add some new ones.
What’s your favourite destination and why?
Europe - beside being a part of my heritage, every visit to European countries delivers a good measure of history and culture that inspires, and the scenery and lifestyle that invigorates all my senses
What’s the best advice you can give travellers?
Find the travel style you are most comfortable with so the experiences collected on your journey are yours alone, and then just unwind. Travel lets you disconnect from your daily life, helps you learn about yourself and makes you appreciate more of what you have at home.
