During the 15th century Šipan was the elite summer getaway place for the richest families from Dubrovnik, many of whom built palaces on the island. Today the island’s mild climate, subtropical vegetation, and pristine waters make it a perfect travel destination from early spring to late autumn. Ferry connections are available from Dubrovnik to both Šipanska Luka and Suđurađ, taking approximately one hour.
