TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1, Sunday: Venice

Arriving at Venice’s airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free until you gather for a Welcome Dinner with your Tour Director and traveling companions. (D)

Day 2, Monday: Venice

Your sightseeing tour of Venice starts with a walking tour in St Mark’s Square, visiting St Mark’s Basilica and the Doge’s Palace. Then you will view the Bell Tower and Bridge of Sighs. On to visit a glassblowing factory, to watch a demonstration of traditional Venetian glassblowing by master crafts men. The balance of the day is at leisure to enjoy Venice at your own pace, shop, or perhaps take an optional gondola ride. (B)

Day 3, Tuesday: Venice – Pisa – Florence

Drive to Ferrara, a Renaissance gem standing on the banks of the Po River in the Emilia-Romagna region. After an orientation tour, continue to Pisa and view the famous Piazza del Miracoli with its Leaning Tower, Baptistery, and Duomo. Then on to Florence for dinner and a free evening. (B, D)

Day 4, Wednesday: Florence

A morning city tour begins at the majestic Piazza del Duomo to see the Cathedral crowned by Brunelleschi’s splendid Dome, Giotto’s Bell Tower, and the Baptistery with Ghiberti’s intricate bronze “Gates of Paradise.” Then, visit the Academy of Fine Arts and see Michelangelo’s David. The tour ends at the Piazzale Michelangelo with a breathtaking view over Florence. The remainder of the day is yours to savor the Renaissance splendor of the Tuscan capital your own way and at your own pace. (B)

Day 5, Thursday: Florence – Assisi – Rome

Travel through the rolling landscapes of Tuscany on your way to Assisi, the hometown of St Francis. Here, take a walking tour to see the main square and visit the impressive Basilica of St Francis. Continue to Rome for dinner and an evening at leisure. (B, D)

Day 6, Friday: Rome

A full day sightseeing tour shows you all the highlights of the Eternal City. Visit the Vatican Museums with the Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s Basilica. Then continue on to visit the Colosseum, ancient Palatine Hill overlooking the Circus Maximus and the Imperial Palace, and the Roman Forum. Overnight. (B, L)

Day 7, Saturday: Rome

A full day at leisure to enjoy spectacular Rome. Your Tour Director will have suggestions on how to spend your time. You might want to visit some of the wonderful shops, galleries and museums, or relax in a sidewalk cafe – there are plenty of things to do and see, depending on your interests. Tonight, a farewell dinner with your fellow travellers will provide a perfect way to celebrate your glimpse of Italy. (B, D)

Day 8, Sunday: Rome – Pompeii – Sorrento

Departing Rome, travel to Pompeii, the Roman city destroyed and also forever preserved by an eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. After a visit to the haunting site, continue to Sorrento. Enjoy dinner at your hotel, then a free evening. (B, D)

Day 9, Monday: Sorrento – Capri – Sorrento

Glide across the bay to the beautiful Isle of Capri. Visit the magnificent Gardens of Caesar Augustus and view the famed Faraglioni Rocks. Wander through the winding streets past the chic boutiques before returning to Sorrento. (B)

Day 10, Tuesday: Sorrento

Take in the sights of Sorrento your way with a full free day. You might want to wander through the shops, indulge in a spa treatment, or simply relax, enjoy the views, and breath in the fresh sea air. Dinner at the hotel. (B, D)

Day 11, Wednesday: Sorrento – Naples

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport in Naples for your departure flight (B)
