TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1, Saturday:  Split

Transfer on the day of the tour from Split airport, harbour or hotel in Split to tour hotel. (D)

Day 2, Sunday:  Split – Dubrovnik

After breakfast in Split we depart for Dubrovnik driving along the newly built Dalmatina highway through the Dalmatina hinterland. In the afternoon city tour of Dubrovnik, inscribed on the List of World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. We will visit the Cathedral. Dinner and overnight in Dubrovnik. (B, D)

Day 3, Monday:  Dubrovnik – Mostar – Sarajevo

Morning departure to Mostar, city of bridges, where the traveller from the south gets the first glimpse of the continent beyond. Orientation walk with your tour leader in Mostar and free time for lunch. Depart to one of the most historically interesting cities in Europe, Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. There will be a City tour on arrival. It is the place where the Western & Eastern Roman Empire split; where the people of the Eastern Orthodox east, the Ottoman south and the Roman Catholic west met, lived and warred. It has been an example of historical turbulence and the clash of civilizations, as well as a beacon of hope for peace and tolerance through multi-cultural integration. Dinner and overnight in Sarajevo. (B, D)

Day 4, Tuesday:  Sarajevo – Osijek – Vukovar

After breakfast, depart to Osijek, the largest city in eastern Croatia, beautifully settled on the banks of Drava River. Osijek remains a popular tourist destination for its Baroque style, open spaces and ample recreational opportunities. The abundance of game and agriculture has made Osijek the country’s semi-official gastronomical capital. A city tour of Osijek passes by the Cathedral and the Tvrđa (Old Fort). Depart towards Vukovar. Vukovar is the biggest Croatian river port located at the confluence of Vuka River in the Danube, a town also known as a symbol of the Croatian war for independence, as it arose from the ashes of the ‘90s into the proud city that it is today. Dinner and overnight in Vukovar. (B, D)

Day 5, Wednesday:  Vukovar – Zagreb

This morning depart for Đakovo. The first thing you see when approaching Đakovo from either side is the brightness of bricks of the two towers and cupolas of the most beautiful cathedral from Venice to Istanbul. A tour of the Cathedral is followed by departure to Zagreb. Visit the ethno village of Stara Kapela for a snack (drinks not included). Upon arrival enjoy a sightseeing tour of Zagreb the Croatian capital city, including the fortified Upper Town, the city’s historical centre, St Mark’s church with multi-coloured roof, the Cathedral, Croatian National Theatre and University. Dinner and overnight in Zagreb. (B, D)

Day 6, Thursday:  Zagreb – Plitvice – Trogir – Split

Depart this morning to Plitvice National Park, inscribed on the List of World Heritage Sites by into 92 spectacular waterfalls. Walk on the wooden promenades to view majestic waters where every turn leads to breathtaking scenery. Surrounded by dense woods Plitvice Lakes are a natural phenomenon of rare and unique beauty. Departure to Split with a short stop in yet another one of the UNESCO protected sites, the small town of Trogir. St Lawrence’s Cathedral, located in the old city centre, and its main western portal – masterpiece of Radovan, represent the most significant work of the Romanesque-Gothic style in Croatia. Dinner and overnight in Split. (B, D)

Day 7, Friday:  Split

After breakfast a guided tour of Split will uncover the secrets of the UNESCO protected Diocletian’s Palace from the 3rd/4th Century with its charming little secrets, the Peristyle Jupiter’s Temple and Cathedral. Dinner and overnight in Split. (B, D)

Day 8, Saturday: Split

Transfer on the day of the tour to Split airport, port or hotel. (B)
