Day 1, Saturday: Taormina Area

Independent arrival at the selected hotel in Taormina Area. Information brochure will be available at the Hotel reception. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. (D)

Day 2, Sunday: Taormina Area – Cefalù – Palermo

Breakfast at the hotel. Meet your tour guide and depart to Castelbuono, a medieval town which is famous for its castle around which the city grew up in the 14th century. Here you will admire the medieval castle and the church of Matrice Vecchia. Head to Cefalù to visit this lovely medieval town and its famous cathedral, one of the most beautiful in Sicily, founded by Ruggero II, the first King of Sicily. Proceed to Palermo. Arrival at the hotel in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight. (B, D)

Day 3, Monday: Palermo – Monreale (optional: Monte Pallegrino – Modello)

After breakfast at the hotel guided tour of Palermo, regional and provincial capital of Sicily. We will start the visit from the old part of the city with the Royal Palace, the Palatina Chapel and the Cathedral. Afterwards you will visit Monreale, which is famous for its Cloister, Cathedral and Byzantine mosaics figuring the Christ Pancreator. In the afternoon optional excursion to Monte Pellegrino with the sanctuary of Saint Rosalia, the patron of the city. Here you can enjoy the spectacular views on the city, the surrounding mountains and the see. Goethe once described Monte Pellegrino as the most beautiful promontory in the world. Afterwards proceed to small fishing village Mondello with its marvelous beach, where you will have some free time. Dinner and overnight in hotel at Palermo. (B, D)

Day 4, Tuesday: Erice – Selinunte – Agrigento

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Erice, the medieval town on the summit of Monte San Giuliano. Guided tour where you can admire the Norman Castle and the Cathedral. In the meantime you will have a stop at a bakery shop to taste the typical almond pastry of Erice. On to Trapani, situated on the headland pointing out to the sea. In the afternoon visit of the archaeological park of Selinunte that contains the ruins of the temples and the Greek Acropolis. Continue to Agrigento for dinner and overnight at the hotel. (B, D)

Day 5, Wednesday: Agrigento – Piazza Armerina – Taormina Area

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning with your guide you will visit the Temple Valley in Agrigento, where you can admire the Temple of Juno, the Temple of Concorde, one of the best preserved doric temples in the whole Greek world, the Temple of Hercules and the Temple of Castor and Pollux. After that on to Piazza Armerina where you will have a short break for tasting some typical Sicilian food like olive paté, olives, marmalades and wine. You will visit the Villa Romana del Casale, famous for the most beautiful collection of late-Roman mosaics. Proceed to Taormina area, where you will arrive in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight. (B, D)

Day 6, Thursday: Taormina Area – Etna

Breakfast at the hotel and guided excursion to the Mount Etna, the highest and most active volcano of Europe. The territory surrounding the Volcano is the “Park of Etna”, one of the largest protected areas in Italy: you will be astonished about the great variety of vegetation and landscapes that we will meet along the way before arriving at the “Silvesti Craters”. From here on you will have the possibility to continue the excursion by jeep. Stop at a local beekeeper for a honey and wine-tasting. In the afternoon visit of Taormina, situated on a plateau on the slopes of the steeply dropping Monte Tauro, dominating the Ionian coast from Capo Sant’Andrea to Capo Taormina. Possibility to visit the Greek-Roman theatre, the 2nd largest classical theatre in Sicily. Back to the hotel for dinner and overnight. (B, D)

Day 7, Friday: Taormina Area – Noto – Syracuse

Breakfast at the hotel followed by full day excursion. First stop in Noto to discover the beautiful baroque in Sicily. On to Syracuse, one of the most interesting archaeological sites of the island, in which you will visit the Archeological Park, the Roman Amphitheatre, the Greek Theatre, the Ear of Dionysus, the Cave of the Cordari, Island of Ortigia, the most ancient nucleus of the city with its stunning cathedral. Back to the hotel for dinner and overnight. (B, D)

Day 8, Saturday: Taormina Area

Breakfast at the hotel after which the tour ends. (B)
